Christmas in July Wompling

Merry Christmas in July!

An unofficial holiday, Christmas in July is celebrated throughout the world as a sort of 'half-way' point to the December holiday season. Did you know that in the Southern Hemisphere seasons are in reverse to the Northern Hemisphere? So, in places like Australia, the colder months are June, July, and August instead of December, January, and February. Christmas is still celebrated on December 25, of course, but Christmas in July events give the southern hemisphere a winter-y excuse to celebrate.

In the Blue Mountains of Australia, Christmas in July is also known as Yulefest. There's also a Christmas Island! Christmas Island is an Australian territory in the Indian Ocean, lying just south of Java, Indonesia. Christmas Island features a unique annual red crab migration, rare sea birds, whale sharks, coral reefs and beautiful deserted beaches. Two-thirds of the island is a natural park. It may not be your first thought when you think of Christmas, but it is unlike anywhere else in the world.

Celebrate the Australia Christmas in July (or whenever) with a fun free printable coloring page of Womple experiencing the festivities.
