Looking for a refreshing and kid-friendly drink for summer? Don't worry we found one for you! Aguas Frescas (Spanish for "cool waters" or "fresh waters") are a refreshing beverage the whole family can have! This drink has been around since the pre-Columbian era several centuries ago. In the 1940's it was a popular street-market staple sold on street carts! A few common fruits to include are mango, pears, passion fruit, strawberry, pineapple, cucumber, and guava and today we are making a Watermelon Agua Fresca!
Materials Needed
- 8 large dates
- 1 cup water
- 4 cups of watermelon
- Lemon juice from 1 lemon
- 8 sprigs of fresh mint (optional)
Step 1
Begin by soaking the dates in a cup of water. Set aside and cut your watermelon up into small chunks.Step 2
Once everything is cut up, begin pouring, one by one, into the blender. Blend until everything is blended fully together.
Step 3
Strain the liquid and repeat again with the remaining watermelon.
Step 4
Pour a glass, garnish, and enjoy!
